CWeiser,
I personally attend a college online, and I have to tell you that e-books have their ups and downs. I do like that I can carry my laptop with me anywhere and I am essentially carrying my entire college campus complete with resources, an entire library and all of my books and classes. With this said, let me tell you how hard it is to read one of my e-books for a long period of time on my laptop. Switching windows on my computer to work through homework and my e-book also proves to be a distraction. I find my eyes a strained continuously from the back-light of my computer, not to mention the damage I am doing them from supposed radiation. I recently bought a Barnes and Noble Nook, and it is awesome. Here I can carry an entire bookstore with me. BUT. I originally bought this so that I could read my school books from it. Unfortunately, as ownership of an e-book is not the same as owning the actual thing, I am required to log into my pdf books from school, essentially preventing me from ever using it on an e-reader. So, for personal reasons the ebook has set me free, but in my academic career it has definitely falling short.
