The iPad can assist any user, classified or not, with apps that clarify the complexities of high school material for struggling students.

Note-taking is a primary skill for every student. Noteshelf  offers a variety of note-taking styles, including the Cornell System.  It has over 17 pre-formatted note sheets. 

iTHoughts HD-  An excellent graphic organizer for teachers and students. It is especially helpful when studying for an exam, allowing students to break down material using a visual tool to organize thoughts, ideas and information.

Shakespeare - Every high school student will need to read at least one of Shakespeare’s works.  This free app contains his complete set of works  - 41 plays,  154 sonnets and 6 poems. 

Global History Facts in a Flash- 60 + graphic-filled flash cards containing famous faces, vocabulary, photos, maps and mnemonics to help engage students and improve their memory. The app also has over 380 multiple-choice questions with immediate feedback. Tests are scored and saved for you. $3.99

American Dreams: Speeches and Documents in US History- contains over 480 documents, including Supreme Court Decisions, Presidential inaugural  addresses, the Constitution and key laws. Also includes 18 audio recordings, making it a primary source document. $1.99

WolframAlpha get answers wherever you are. Everything from computing trig and calculus problems to what is overhead in the night sky.  $1.99

SAT and ACT Vocabulary Builder by AccelaStudy- 500 of the most commonly tested vocabulary words. 1000 original, illustrative sentences to help users understand how each word is used in context. $4.99

SAT- Math – Free. Over 175 SAT math lessons covering the core math concepts. Each lesson has a video of the teacher explaining the concept.

Quick Graph – Free. High-quality, graphic calculator that takes full advantage of the multitouch display and the powerful graphic capabilities of the iPad and iPhone, both in 2D and 3D. A simple, yet intuitive interface that makes it easy to enter and/or edit equations and visualize them in mathematical notation.
