This May marks the 50th anniversary of the first team to conquer Mount Everest, and that benchmark climb is being celebrated through an interactive adventure brought to classrooms by Canadian climber Elia Saikaly and the ePals safe global learning network. Saikaly is currently scaling Everest with his team, filming the event in high resolution and Skyping, emailing and tweeting with students and teachers from base camp 2. Students can also follow his trek via a Google Earth map tracing his route.

The Final Climb Is On from ePals on Vimeo.

Classrooms and individual students, parents and others can participate in the adventure for free by registering at www.ePals.com. For a video introduction to the project, visit http://en.community.epals.com/epals-on-everest/default.aspx
