A project of the Schomburg Center of the New York Public Library, this collection of over fifty works by African American women writers of the 19th century ranges from slave narratives to collections of poetry to essays and biographies. A biography of each writer is also provided. In addition, both the individual works and the entire collection are keyword searchable. This is a valuable collection for anyone studying African American literature, women writers, or 19th-century literature.
