Keeping Time with the Mayan Calendar Round

April 4, 2011 06:00

This activity provides instructions for determining the common New Year's Days of the two Mayan calendars using gears or least common multiples. The Maya had two calendars--one was tied to the astronomical year, and had 365 days like ours. The other was shorter, 260 days, and was associated with rituals. Includes teacher's guide.
