New Media Middle School, in partnership with Samsung Electronics America and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile), announced today the launch of the school’s curriculum featuring Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Opened in August 2011, in the heart of downtown Columbus Ohio, New Media Middle was formed to help urban middle school students bridge the education gap between them and their suburban peers. The school does this by combining a rigorous academic and community engagement curriculum with the latest technology to create an interactive and paperless learning environment.

“New Media Middle was founded to create a 21st century teaching and learning ecosystem where students will be immersed in a newfound relationship with technology,” said New Media Middle Principal Erik Cohen. “Our partnership with Samsung, and the top-of-the-line features offered by Samsung’s Galaxy 10.1 Tab, will serve as catalysts to help our students fully utilize this technology-rich ecosystem we are striving to create.”

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a WiFi-enabled tablet that measures at just 8.6 millimeters thick, is powered by the Android™ 3.1 (Honeycomb) platform and features a 10-inch touchscreen and access to an array of applications through the Android Market™.

New Media Middle and Samsung will be hosting a media open house onsite at the school in January 18, 2012 to demonstrate this approach to learning in the real-world classroom setting.
