PCI Education
, provider of resources for students with special needs, introduces
LIFT
, a new line of intensive intervention programs targeted to middle and high school students.
LIFT
is designed for struggling students who are performing two or more years below grade level, including students with learning differences, and English language learners. Its four intervention programs provide critical academic support in reading, writing and mathematics. PCI Education announces
LIFT
today at the
CEC 2011 Convention & Expo
, as the company celebrates its 20th anniversary.
“We live in a world in which a high level of literacy and mathematics skills are required to prepare students for success after high school,” said Lee Wilson, president and CEO of PCI Education. “To help those who have fallen behind, PCI Education has developed a series of intervention programs to equip middle and high school students for academic success in college or beyond.”
To raise student performance,
LIFT
intervention programs target critical academic gaps, engage the learner, and support the teacher. The research-based programs focus on key academic content areas, and are structured around best practices for adolescent learning. To help engage students, the intervention programs feature strong visuals, real-world examples and contemporary themes. In addition,
LIFT
provides
comprehensive materials to support teachers, including step-by-step instructions, assessments and professional development.
LIFT
comprises four intervention programs that address reading, writing and mathematics:
TextConnections
™ is designed for students in grades 6-12 who have mastered basic phonics and decoding, but lack solid comprehension and critical thinking skills. The intervention program uses a variety of texts to engage students across subject areas, increasing their overall comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, writing, and independent reading skills. By examining text genres and structures, reading fiction and nonfiction, and exploring the themes of change and identity, students improve their literacy skills.
SummerVentures
™ engages adolescent learners in acquiring critical skills they did not master during the school year.
SummerVentures
provides reading, writing and math intervention for students in grades 6-8 through two offerings:
SummerVentures Reading & Writing
and
SummerVentures
Mathematics
. Motivating, high-interest lessons and hands-on activities engage students who need to catch up. Instruction may last three to eight weeks, and
SummerVentures
may be used in summer school, as an in-classroom intervention, or in after-school programs.
Momentum Math
®
Grade Level Editions
is a flexible and targeted mathematics intervention solution for students in grades 6-8. The program is designed for students who have given up on math because they have fallen so far behind. The program is also appropriate for students with learning differences or for English language learners. Through a series of dynamic and visually engaging lessons,
Momentum Math
helps students master the concepts, procedures and language that establish the foundation for higher mathematics, including algebra.
