Professional development activities not only improve understanding and skills, but they also energize educators with a renewed enthusiasm for teaching. Impacting the students in a positive light should always be the ultimate goal. Try these avenues to improve the professional development program in your district:

•    Federal Funding: Several programs from the Department of Education provide funding for professional development including Title I and IDEA.

•    Local Foundations: Speak to local charitable foundations to find out if they fund educational projects such as professional development.

•    National Foundations: National foundations have a long list of funding opportunities.

•    SETDA: You can also find funding opportunities through organizations like State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA).

Whether your professional development calls for attending a conference or implementing an innovative teaching practice, there are opportunities available for you to receive funding to better the skills of you and your staff.
