Celebrate the day in 1923 when the tomb of King Tut was finally unsealed by the British excavation team led by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon. This exhibit from the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago offers a gallery of photographs taken by Harry Burton, the only photographer permitted to work in the tomb. In this presentation, there are fifty photographs from the hundreds Burton took. Along with the photographs are descriptions of the items found in the tomb. In addition to pictures of the artifacts, Burton chronicled the excavation techniques of the British team.
