The Nature of Things with David Suzuki: One Ocean

October 6, 2011 00:00

A four-part documentary takes viewers on an exploratory expedition of the sea, from the tropical coasts to the dark depths to the strange marine flora and fauna that call the ocean home. After viewing the series, students learn ways to lesson their impact on the oceans and navigate an animated timeline to explore the history of the ocean habitat and its creatures. There is also an interactive ocean tour, which requires the Google Earth Plugin. The video series is accompanied by a collection of engaging games, including an arcade-style Ocean cleanup game, a strategic fishing-management sim, and fast-paced navigation game through which students defend the reefs from cruise ships. oil tankers, and coral hunters.
