Aerohive Networks today announced that Boise School District, located in Boise, ID, implemented an Aerohive WLAN solution because of its manageability and affordability.
 
Boise School District is made up of five high schools, eight junior high schools and 33 elementary schools. The school district also includes specialty locations, such as an elementary school turned into an ELL (English Language Learning) program site.

The district serves approximately 28,000 people and is comprised of 25,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff, spread over 50-plus locations.

One of the primary drivers for Boise School District to install a WLAN solution was to curtail the use of off the shelf, unsanctioned and unmanaged Wi-Fi access points (APs). The district also found that the cost of the Aerohive solution compared favorably to other offerings.

Boise is currently using Aerohive’s HiveManager Network Management System to securely manage the deployment of the Aerohive APs and traffic from a single location. The system has worked well, according to Infrastructure Technician Bruce McCosh of Boise School District.

“Compared with other WLANs, Aerohive was far less complicated. It’s easy to configure and forget it,” said McCosh. “I only have so many hours in the day, and so Aerohive’s simplicity of use was very appealing to me.”
