Another Interesting Google Maps Tool...
In my last post I discussed how I use Google Earth to look at school information in order to help make decisions. This week I would like to share with you an interesting use of another tool from Google. Google Maps Transparencies is a site that uses Google Maps to combine both the map and satellite views of Google Maps on one page. This allows you to overlay a satellite and street map view while browsing Google Maps. You can toggle between views having the map overlay the satellite view, or the satellite view overlay the map. This is great not only planning trips and such, but could also be used by teachers and students to enliven and support planning for field trips and other school outings.
By the way, I learned about this tool on a site called Digital Geography. A great resource about using new technologies in the teaching of geography.
