Introduce A Girl To Engineering Day 2016

With the theme There’s An Engineer In Every Girl and the hashtags #GirlDay2016 #BringItOut, the 15th Annual Introduce A Girl To Engineering Day, set for February 25, 2016, will connect one million girls with engineer role models.

This year, Girl Day will again be highlighted by a Capitol Hill breakfast briefing that is open to lawmakers, non-profits and corporations. Among those speaking at the event is LaTisha Durham, an engineer with the United States Navy, who will share her inspiring story and bring several of her middle school STEM girl mentees from the Ivy Center in Suitland, Maryland.

#BringItOut, the video-driven social media campaign features women engineering professionals and students delivering personal messages about their experiences as role models and how important they are to inspiring the next generation of engineers.

Local Girl Day activities planned for across the United States include:

  • Downtown Tucson will be the scene for The Girl Power in Science and Engineering lunch for 60 middle school girls from Amphi Middle School, hosted at Tucson Electric.
