Edgenuity and Bullitt County, Kentucky Public Schools Partner to Keep Students Learning

Edgenuity and Bullitt County Public Schools (BCPS) in Kentucky have partnered to address the high school dropout problem. BCPS is using Edgenuity’s online learning solutions as resources for dropouts to continue earning credits towards graduation.

BCPS Assistant Superintendent for Student Learning Greg Schultz created a district-wide outreach program geared towards students who have dropped out, allowing them to earn their remaining credits and high school diplomas using Edgenuity. Students who have benefited from this approach include:

  • A 21-year-old woman who used Edgenuity to earn her remaining credits in order to apply and get into nursing school.
  • A young man using Edgenuity not only to earn his credits, but also to take online electives to achieve his future career goals.
  • A homeless boy who dropped out after earning only half a credit is now using Edgenuity to earn his diploma.

BCPS is the 7th largest school district in Kentucky serving 23 schools and approximately 13,000 students. Students at BCPS use Edgenuity for a variety of purposes including initial credit, credit recovery, and Career and Technical Education (CTE).
