Affordable, Portable Storage for your Computer Files

What's the size of a pack of chewing gum, plugs into your computer's USB port, and can store from 16MB to 1GB of information?

It's a USB flash drive, an inexpensive and easy-to-use solution for storing large files such as a PowerPoint slide show, or for sharing files between computers.

Introduced about two years ago, prices for 16MB drives start under $30, making them very affordable, and an attractive alternative to 3.5" floppy disks that often aren't large enough for graphics intensive files. They're also a boon to those of us who do not have CD burning capability.

I use flash drives for:

  • Backing up files;
  • Accessing presentations for meetings when taking my own laptop in not an option;
  • Trading files with co-workers;
  • Transferring files from my desktop computer to my laptop.

The smallest removable storage device currently available, you'll wonder how you ever got along without one!
