Let your Vision for Education Guide your Vision for Technology Use
There's so much talk these days about being a technology leader; isn't my job to be an instructional leader?
Absolutely! The primary task of a school administrator, particularly a site level administrator is to help staff and students keep their focus on teaching and learning. However, technology is a large part of our students' world and a tool we can use both in instruction and in managing administrative tasks required of administrators and teachers.
First, be able to articulate your vision for education at your site, and then consider ways that technology might be used to support that vision. Of course, to take that second step, you must have some understanding of the capabilities of both current and emerging technologies, take the time to plan carefully, and provide the support your staff needs to use the technology most effectively. This is where technology leadership enters the picture.
A resource you may find helpful while considering these issues is the online journal, From Now On. You'll find articles about change, technology planning, research, and much more.
