Topic: Productivity and Professional Practice
Charting Student Progress

Is there an easy way to use tables of test scores created in Microsoft Word, and convert them to charts for more clarity?

Using numeric data in a Word table to generate charts is a snap. Open the Word file, select and copy the table you want to chart, including the headings. Be sure to note the number of columns and rows in the table you copy. Now open a new Excel worksheet. Click and drag the mouse to highlight an area that corresponds to the number of columns and rows in the table, and select paste from the Edit menu.

Now you can use the Chart Wizard feature of Excel to create a variety of different types of charts. Once the charts are generated, you can copy and paste them into Word and PowerPoint files.
