Topic: Assessment and Evaluation
Why Develop Evaluation Questions?
I now realize we didn't spend enough time designing the evaluation portion of our technology plan. We have 20 goals and objectives in the curriculum area alone! I can't rewrite the plan, so how can I make this manageable?
When you have an unmanageable number of goals and objectives to address in monitoring and evaluating plan implementation, try developing and using evaluation questions to help focus on the most important aspects of the plan. Bring your technology team together to:
- Review all your goals and objectives to find the common themes such as student achievement, home/school communication, technology skills, etc. and then cluster your goals and objectives by theme.
- Ask, "What do we really want know related to this theme?"
Evaluation questions typically begin with phrases such as:
- "To what extent..."
- "How have students been impacted by..."
- "How effective is..."
Write questions that consolidate related goals and objectives so you can streamline data collection and review.
