Terminal Services Question
Question:
We currently are running our network with Novell 5. In addition, we have two Windows 2000 servers that we use for our gradebook program. One of the servers is running two separate instances of the gradebook program, one high school and the other middle school, which was working well until we encountered a problem with our Terminal Services. Initially I thought it might be caused by one of our older switches, but that doesn't seem to be it since I switched over the patch cable to a different newer Cisco switch. Each time we try to login to terminal services from our machines we get the following error message:
VBScript: Remote desktop Discontinued
The remote computer disconnected the session because of an error in the licensing protocol. Please try to connect to the remote computer again or contact your network administrator.
We were able to connect about 3 weeks ago from our machines. If we go to any other machine outside of our office, we can connect and disconnect.
The IT Guy says:
My first thought is you may have installed a patch on your web server that caused this problem. An enhanced licensing patch may be causing licenses to expire. You may want to uninstall Terminal Services licensing from the server running it, reboot, reinstall TS licensing, and then get your licenses activated immediately from Microsoft. Some people have had trouble if they do not immediately activate their licenses. You may not need Terminal Services licensing at all, however, if this is the case you can uninstall it and still have two users connect to the server in remote mode.
