PDQ (Professional Development QuickTips)
Focusing on Curriculum but Teaching Technology
Category:
Curriculum Integration
Tip:
After teaching the Intel class for four times (which stresses curriculum) I have found the best way to start with teachers is the Internet.
- Demonstrate good searching techniques.
- Give teachers enough time to see what their subject brings up on the Internet.
- Show them how they could use web sites they find in their curriculum.
- Model how finding these web sites can lead to some kind of project-based learning which includes web sites, newsletters, or PowerPoint.
Once teachers see that technology can bring together a project in a way that is fun for kids, they want to learn the application and want the kids to use it also.
