Site of the Day

Name: The Children's Museum of Indianapolis

Brief Description of the Site:
The online component of museums generally offer rich resources for education. This site is a great example of the contributions of such institutions to education. The site includes a well-developed teacher resource area that includes lessons, activities and Web resources. Special online exhibits of current museum offerings offer engaging learning opportunities for students.

How to use the site:
Begin by exploring the Teachers section of the site for useful resources. Science teachers will especially find the "Biotechnology Learning Center" a very valuable resource for teaching genetics in an authentic and engaging manner, especially the timeline. Be sure to examine the links to the various exhibits-such as the Andy Warhol exhibit-to find activities pertinent to various disciplines. Check back often to see the new exhibits at the site. Technology coordinators and Web managers may wish to locate other museums and link these to their Web pages as the content of the exhibits presented online provide truly unique and useful content.
