Reviewed the directory of grants and still looking? Peruse this list of additional funding resources for even more opportunities.

On the Web

American Philanthropy Review provides a Web site with a variety of resources, including book reviews, links to several discussion forums, and the GRANTS listserv, which offers information on all aspects of grant seeking and grant making. To subscribe to GRANTS, send mail to listserv@charitychannel.com with the command SUBSCRIBE GRANTS in the message body (be sure to turn off your signature block before sending).

The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance includes numerous grants and other funding opportunities for educators and educational institutions. The database, searchable via several categories, can be accessed at their Web site.

EDInfo is a listserv from the U.S. Department of Education that provides updates on federal projects and grants related to education. To subscribe, address an e-mail message to listproc@inet.ed.gov. Then write SUBSCRIBE EDINFO YOURFIRSTNAME YOURLASTNAME in the message (turn off your signature block before sending the message). EDInfo archives are available.

The Federal Register offers a free searchable database with thousands of funding opportunities for schools. For information, visit the Web site.

The Foundation Center offers both online and offline resources for grant seekers. The Foundation Center Online, provides links to information about funding trends and analyses, training seminars, private and corporate grant makers, the center's libraries, and more. Pacific Bell's Knowledge Network Explorer's Grant Opportunity Resources offers links to assist in locating grants and writing grant proposals. Other resources and tools are also included.

Mach25: Breaking the Tuition Barrier is a free, open architecture scholarship search database that does not require registration before use. Access over 600,000 awards.

NASA Spacelink's Announcements of Opportunity Web page includes listings of summer workshops, grants, challenging contests for students, and aerospace conferences.

The NonProfit Gateway is a network of links to federal government information and services, including a master search of more than 530,000 government Web pages.

Polaris Grants Central, provides a variety of grant writing resources, workshops, and helpful tips and hints. Try out the "Ask a Question" feature which provides e-mail access to the Polaris grant experts.

SchoolGrants.org was created so there would be a place where small districts could go to find grant opportunities and other assistance to help them find funding for supplemental programs for their students. It provides grant-writing tips, tools, sample proposals, and resources. There's also a listserv called Bring Home the Bacon that you can join to collaborate and share. Subscribers range from brand new teachers/grant writers to those who successfully procure millions of dollars of grants each year.

SRA Grants Web, links to grant-related Internet sites and resources, including a listing of federal programs and other funding opportunities.

Technology & Learning's Web site contains a searchable database of regularly updated grant, scholarship, professional development, and other funding opportunities for both educators and students. The site may contain entries that have come out too late for a given deadline of the printed edition of the magazine, so it's best to check on an ongoing basis.

The U.S. Department of Education features ongoing updates on government programs and also links to pages with information on grants and contracts, funding for bilingual and minority programs, student financial assistance, and much more.

The fourth edition of the Distance Learning Funding $ourcebook provides over 450 pages of information about funding sources, trends, and priorities for telecommunications and the new media. Written by Arlene Krebs, the Sourcebook is available for $48 plus $5 shipping and handling. Grants for K-12 Hotline is a biweekly newsletter that alerts users to grant availability. Included are grant-writing tips and information on eligibility, approval criteria, and decision makers. The Guide to Federal Funding for Education is an annual, two-volume printed resource that profiles funding programs. The Guide's price of $297 includes quarterly updates. Education Funding News is a weekly newsletter focusing on federal, regional, and private funding projects as well as grant sources, writing resources, and deadlines. Subscriptions are $278 per year. The Insider's Guide to Grantmaking by Joel H. Orosz, program director in Philanthropy and Volunteerism at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is written to help program officers manage their roles in finding effective programs, by providing a look at grant making from the other side. The Insider's Guide is available for $32.95 and is published by Jossey-Bass Publishers.

eSchool News publishes the School Technology Funding Directory. Available for $169, the directory includes a range of funding resources, as well as funding priorities, limitations, deadlines, writing tips, financial data for each donor, and more. eSchool News also publishes School Technology Funding Bulletin, a monthly bulletin containing the latest listings, analyses, and advice for funding opportunities. The Bulletin is $165 for a year's subscription. Discounts may be available for ordering online; check the Web site for current offers.

Technology Funding for Schools (with CD-ROM, $29.95), The Principal's Guide to Winning Grants ($24.95), and The Teacher's Guide to Winning Grants ($24.95) are all written by grant and fund-raising consultant David Bauer and published by Jossey-Bass. Bauer explains the basics of seeking grants, analyzing school needs, and writing a funding proposal. Worksheet templates are included.

John Wiley & Sons publishes the Wiley Nonprofit Series, which includes titles such as Grantseeker's Toolkit, A Comprehensive Guide to Finding Funding, by Cheryl Carter New and James Aaron Quick ($39.95) and The Fund Raiser's Guide to the Internet, by Michael Johnston ($34.95). Grantseeker's Toolkit includes tips for strategic planning, step-by-step methods for writing grant proposals, and a disk of templates. The Fund Raiser's Guide also includes a CD-ROM and presents practical, non-technical information.
