Creating a Plan for Technology

A key professional development project for the technology leader is the development of a plan that focuses on teaching and learning, not technology. Most technology plans that exist today are simply a plan for the purchase of technology. These plans usually include long lists of hardware and software, and may include a description of skill development activities for teachers. Seldom does it include the most important ingredient: descriptions of the learning processes that will change with the infusion of new technology.

Your new plan should describe how learning will be enhanced with the necessary technology tools and technology-enriched activities that support instruction. It must include professional development activities for administrators. This plan must be a joint project of all the learning community's stakeholders, led by the building administrator. It can become the framework for crystallizing and nurturing the school's vision.
