Portraits of Learning

By Kristen Kennedy

Technology & Learning's First Annual Student Photography Contest

For almost two decades, Technology & Learning has celebrated outstanding technology-using educators and top digital products for schools. This year, for the first time, we asked to hear directly from students.

The theme of Technology & Learning's first annual student photography contest is the very open-ended "learning with technology." We left it up to students to interpret this challenge in their own individual ways, and they responded with dozens of creative offerings. Some used sophisticated technical artistry to show technology's role in learning, while others saw the camera as a way to tell a story about how technology can bridge communities. It was a challenge to narrow down the competition to eight winners. Here, we recognize the inspired achievements of today's young photographers.
