If the zebrachee and lofadog aren't on your list of intriguing animals, pay a virtual visit to the Switcheroo Zoo, where kids select a head, legs, or tail from nine different animals-from bear and bison to zebra and rhino-to build their own hybrid animal life form. Flash-enabled animations morph new animals right before your eyes and can be stopped in mid-morph for an even more interesting result. Fun animal facts await you at the entrance to the zoo, and future zookeepers can search for hidden animals in the Zookeepers Wanted game. Educators' Resources includes links to sites that offer in-depth information about the animals in the zoo, as well as interdisciplinary lesson plans and other teaching tools. Your students will be inspired to pen ditties like those included in the amusing collection of student-authored odes to their animal creations in Seven Poems and a Story.
