Supporting the Reading First Classroom: Issues and Challenges (cont'd)

Unknowns and Knowns

What will the model scientific research-based reading classroom look like? How will curriculum materials be chosen and who will choose them? What kinds of technology products will find a home in schools? Will the curriculum be narrowed to accommodate only those skills that can be easily measured? Will there in fact be any changes at all? These are just a few of the unknowns educators-and very likely the creators of Reading First-are grappling with at this point.
