The Association of Educational Publishers announces the finalists for the 2013 AEP Awards. The entries were judged on quality content, age appropriateness, and innovation. View the quality benchmarks established by the AEP.
Awards are given in four main categories:
*Distinguished Achievement Awards (DAAs) honor the best in a range of product types and resources used by teachers, parents, and students
*Innovation Awards recognize forward-thinking products that are pioneering changes in the education landscape
*Golden Lamp Awards are given to the most exceptional products for teaching and learning each year in four categories: Periodicals, Professional Development, Supplemental Resources, and Whole Curriculum Programs
*Beacon Awards, which recognize the most successful marketing campaigns promoting education.
The 2013 Golden Lamp Finalists are as follows:
Periodicals category - Ranger Rick (National Wildlife Federation), Scholastic Action (Scholastic Inc.), Scholastic ART (Scholastic Inc.), Teaching Young Children (NAEYC)
Professional Development category - Aim High, Achieve More: How to Transform Urban Schools Through Fearless Leadership (ASCD), Teachscape Teaching Effectiveness Platform (Teachscape), What Principals Need to Know About Teaching and Learning Reading-2nd Edition (Solution Tree), World Class Learners (Corwin)
Supplemental Resources category - AfterSchool KidzScience Forensic Science - Crime Lab Science Kit (Developmental Studies Center), Britannica School (Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc.), Independent Reading Assessment: Fiction (Scholastic Inc.), Targeted Phonics series (Teacher Created Materials)
