Today's Newsletter: The Value of Ed Tech

7/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
There were plenty of interesting items posted to the Tech&Learning news feeds while you were marching in parades and watching fireworks. The Economist  has an interesting executive summary for the current state of edtech, though I suspect a few of you might have differing opinions on the value of “big data.” The Center for American Progress  looks at whether or not American schools are getting enough bang from their edtech buck. Here’s the scariest bit: “We were deeply surprised to find that no state is looking at technology return on investment, or ROI, given the hundreds of millions of dollars that are currently being spent on technical devices across the nation.” And The Next Web just posted a talk  given by Juan Lopez-Valcarcel, Chief Digital Officer at Pearson. Found your own summer reading. Email me some pointers! —Kevin Hogan, Editorial Director
