According to a recent Reuters article, public school teachers spent a staggering $1.3 billion in out-of-pocket expenses last year. However, many teachers just don’t have funds available to make that type of investment, despite good intentions.

Chevron’s Fuel Your School program is a collaboration between Chevron and that allows consumers in select U.S. regions help close the school funding gap. This year, from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, the Fuel Your School program will donate $1 – up to nearly $7.1 million, to help fund eligible STEM-focused classroom projects posted to – for every purchase of eight or more gallons of fuel at participating Chevron and Texaco stations.

Last year’s project requests ranged from earthworms for a science class to handheld gaming devices that would enhance the in-classroom learning experience; the program raised nearly $4.5 million dollars.
