Filament Games and Smithsonian Team Up for New App

A new partnership between Filament Game and the Smithsonian Science Education Center offers kids a mobile game expedition to the National Zoo.

Shutterbugs: Wiggle and Stomp is a free teaching game that shows 3-to-5-year-old children how to describe movement and motion while virtually visiting exotic animals at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park.

Shutterbugs equips players with a virtual camera to take pictures of the animals as they perform motions. The game responds to individual players, adjusting the difficulty depending on the child’s progress. As a child masters a vocabulary word, he or she progresses to a new and challenging word, and is rewarded with access to a printable coloring page.

Aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards, the app can be downloaded from the App Store for iPad and Google Play for Android users.

Shutterbugs is also available for free online at the Smithsonian Science Education Center website: http://www.ssec.si.edu/games/shutterbugs-wiggle-and-stomp.
