Three Tech Forum Presenters Chosen for White House Champion of Change

The White House has honored three Tech&Learning Tech Forum presenters as “Champions of Change”—educators who are taking creative approaches in using technology to enhance learning.

Todd Nesloney

Todd Nesloney is a fifth grade teacher at Fields Store Elementary in Waller, Texas. Among other honors, he is a National School Boards Association “20 to Watch” for 2013, Center for Digital Education “Top 40 Innovators in Education” for 2013, and a Flipped Classroom Certification Instructor for Sophia.org. Nesloney is co-founder of The 3 Tech Ninjas education technology training company, the author of children’s book “Spruce & Lucy,” co-author of “Flipping 2.0”, and the co-host of the education podcast series “EduAllStars.”

Carolyn Foote, District and High School Librarian, Westlake High School, Austin, TX

Carolyn Foote is the district and high school librarian at Westlake High School at Eanes International School District in Austin, Texas. An advocate for students and teachers, she has broken down barriers by supporting innovative uses of technology and social media by networking with other librarians and educators online.

Jennie Magiera, Digital Learning Coordinator, Academy for Urban School Leadership, Chicago, IL

Jennie Magiera is the Digital Learning Coordinator for the Academy for Urban School Leadership, a network of 29 Chicago Public Schools, and previously she taught fourth and fifth grade math. As an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Teacher, and Chicago Public School's 2012 Tech Innovator of the Year, Jennie has been working to redefine education through effective technology use. She explores how to leverage 1:1 devices such as Chromebooks and iPads to increase student metacognition, self-efficacy and creativity.
