South Carolina DOE Selects Early Childhood Assessment Software

10/21/2014 12:00:00 AM

Today, Amplify announced that its early childhood assessment software has been selected to be administered statewide by the South Carolina Department of Education. For the 2014-2015 school year, all teachers in publicly funded pre-k and kindergarten programs will use either the mobile or the print version of the assessment, depending on technical readiness.

Amplify will provide 105,000 students and 3,500 teachers across 650 elementary schools and 200 pre-k centers with an Early Childhood Reading Assessment program, an important component of Read to Succeed, South Carolina’s initiative meant to help school districts improve students’ reading outcomes. Teachers can use the software, mCLASS:CIRCLE, to work with students on several quick tasks to gauge proficiency in areas such as vocabulary, early writing, phonemic awareness and letter naming.  A reporting tool offers instructional activities and recommendations for each child based on his or her achievement level and needs, so teachers can more easily differentiate instruction.
