Free online tool helps analyze state certification requirements

CertificationMap, a new free online tool, was built to inform teachers on the varying state certification requirements through a single, comprehensive source. The website and its researched content can be less overwhelming than individual state Department of Education websites since it offers break-downs of state requirements at a glance, and is constantly updated to keep up with changing teacher certification requirements. Visitors to the website need only to click on a state on the homepage map, and are then brought to a page that lists important information on that state: the average Elementary and Secondary teacher salaries of the state, the teacher salary vs. the state average, and the number of vacation weeks per year. Following these statistics is a short description of other certification requirements, such as prerequisite courses, teacher preparation that might be required, and testing.
