Laptop Alternatives
Equipping every student with a laptop computer is still prohibitively expensive. Devices like One Laptop per Child's XO, Intel's Classmate and the ASUS Eee PC cost $300 or less, though there are trade-offs in terms of operating system, memory and storage.
Would these laptop alternatives be acceptable as the device of choice for 1-to-1 computing initiatives? |

a) Yes, they are rugged, mobile and do a good job on the basics. They won't be the only computer that students have access to. |
