5 FETC Takeaways

■
There’s an App for that! From the opening “shootout” to the
closing session, thousands of apps were suggested—enough to
fill every need and create some new needs. Very useful during
the whole conference was FETC’s own app, containing session
info and more.
■ Bring it! The rise of BYOD was very evident, beginning with a
plethora of BYOD hands-on workshops and continuing with many
concurrent sessions featuring successful BYOD implementations.
■ How Tweet it is! Social media was everywhere. Twitter feeds
throughout the conference, especially during Keynote and
featured sessions, brought the audience into the agenda. If you
missed one of the major sessions, you could tune in to FETC’s
own YouTube channel.
■
Learning everywhere! Great additions to the exhibit hall floor
included poster sessions by educators and two Learning Lab
theaters. Another Learning Lab outside the hall featured
adaptive devices.
■ Can we talk? Collaboration and meeting new friends was
facilitated with the “Bloggers Cafe,” an area of tables, chairs,
and the all-important power supply, to recharge your mind and
your device. In conjunction with FETC, there were presentations
by the Florida Distance Learning Association and the 2013
Learning Environments Conference.
