Study Shows Online PD Affects Student Scores

An independent study, published in the International Journal of Evaluation and Research in Education and sponsored by the School Improvement Network, shows a direct link between professional development and gains in student achievement. The study measured scores in 169 schools across 19 states and found:

• Math Scores: On-demand professional learning educators saw an 18.9% gain in proficiency scores, as opposed to a 4.2% gain in schools without.

• Reading Scores: On-demand professional learning educators saw a 15.3% gain in proficiency scores, as opposed to 2.5% in schools without PD.
