Imagine Cup Winners

Microsoft announced the winners of
the 2011 Imagine Cup at the David
H. Koch Theatre at Lincoln Center in
New York City. Activist, philanthropist,
and actor Eva Longoria, New York
City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and
FIRST Robotics founder Dean Kamen
keynoted at the event, celebrating
students who have invented technology
solutions that address the world’s
toughest problems.

The global Imagine Cup competition
challenges students
from around the world to
use technology to solve
global humanitarian problems.
Starting from a field of
more than 350,000 students,
Microsoft selected 424 finalists
from around the world to
travel to New York City, July
8-13, for the weeklong competition.
This year’s winners
have tackled problems such
as improving road and fire
safety, eradicating poverty,
and creating a more sustainable
environment.
The company also unveiled plans to
launch a three-year, $3 million competitive
grant program to help Imagine
Cup participants realize their vision of
solving the world’s toughest problems.
