When is Skype more than just Skype? When schools can put videoconference, chat, and other
Web-based assistive technologies to real use. Applications like PresenceLearning (pictured) have
the potential to solve many problems at once: “telepresence” sessions provide extra speech therapy
for students in need, more flexibility for teachers and parents, and budgetary solutions for districts.
While not necessarily a replacement for a traditional face-to-face session, these practices are a
positive supplement.
