Florida school board inks $7.9 million enterprise resource planning deal

Tyler Technologies, Inc. has signed an agreement with the District School Board of Pasco County, Fla., for Tyler’s Munis® enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. The agreement, valued at approximately $7.9 million, includes software licenses, related professional services, maintenance and support.

Pasco County has 84 public schools and more than 67,000 students and 9,200 employees. The county, located on Florida’s west coast north of Tampa, has more than 464,000 residents.

Before embarking on a rigorous request for proposal (RFP) process for an ERP solution, the district contracted with the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) to review the district’s current technology, help the district plan for the ERP project and help facilitate the vendor selection process. The school district assembled a dedicated ERP team that conducted an extensive review of all proposals and held three evaluation phases before recommending Tyler’s Munis solution to the school board.

“Overall, we selected Munis because it can support our commitment to making data-driven decisions, and to continuous improvement of the district’s business processes,” said Ann Altman, ERP project leader and systems analyst for the District School Board of Pasco County. "Additionally, Munis will help the district to significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing processes, and aid in the transformation and standardization of financial and human resource processes.”

The District School Board of Pasco County selected several applications from Tyler’s Munis suite, including financial management, human capital management, content management, and employee and vendor self service. Additionally, the district purchased Munis Disaster Recovery Services to ensure that the district can be up and running its critical processes within hours of a disaster. The district also chose to engage Tyler’s change management services to help engineer best business practices and manage the implementation of new processes and applications across the district. The Pasco County Schools agreement marks the first Florida school district client for Tyler’s Munis solution.
