Impact of Professional Development

Tip:
Ultimately, professional development can help teachers teach more effectively, enhance student learning, and provide students with the skills they will need for the 21st century.

Three questions that professional developers can consider before they implement activities:

  1. Is this professional development going to improve student learning - both the quality and quantity (focused towards the child becoming an adult living in the 21st century)?
  2. Is it going to offer teachers the skills they will need to improve communication between teachers and community, teachers and teachers, teachers and administration, teachers and students, and teachers and parents?
  3. Is it going to give teachers the tools and skills to perform administrative tasks easier, more efficiently, more accurately, with less time, and to provide more data for data-driven decision making?
