National WW II Museum New Orleans: My Memorial Day

5/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
This site offers a way to make Memorial Day more meaningful than just a day off from school. In addition to a fact sheet about the history of the holiday, there are ten suggestions on how to observe Memorial Day. One suggestion is to knit a scarf for a veteran, with several patterns to choose from. Another is to interview a veteran, complete with a long list of possible questions to ask. There is also a bibliography of sixteen books about World War II. Although the museum that sponsors this site focuses on World War II, remember that Memorial Day is a day to honor all who have died serving the United States.
