Ohio District Launches Blended Model of Education

Springfield City School District is launching OnCourse Online Learning as a new education option for students living in Clark County and throughout the state of Ohio. Springfield City School District is the first school district in the state to pursue a blended model of education. After receiving feedback from the community about a need for more choices in students’ education, Springfield City School District developed OnCourse as a new blended learning option.

Students participating in OnCourse can choose to take online, traditional or credit flex course options. OnCourse is the newest education option from Springfield City School District, which currently offers other personalized solutions for students, such as the five academies for high school students. For the past few years, Springfield City School District has offered several online courses to assist students with credit recovery or to accelerate their learning. As part of OnCourse, students can take classes from that platform as well as two other online course platforms to create a one-of-a-kind personalized solution.

“We’re currently enrolling students for OnCourse. It has been so gratifying to work with these students and their families to put a custom solution together,” stated Monica Fee, Coordinator, OnCourse. “I feel confident that we’re setting these students up for success by first listening to their individual needs and goals and then crafting their custom education plan.”

“We understand that one-size does not fit all with education,” said Dr. David Estrop, Superintendent, Springfield City School District. “Offering an expanded online option for our students and other students throughout Ohio is a natural progression for our school district.”
