VA District Adopts Educator Evaluation Platform

Standard for Success, an online, customizable educator evaluation and management platform, announces a collaboration with Goochland County Public Schools in Goochland, Va., to guide the division’s adherence to recently enacted statewide teacher and principal evaluation models.

The strategic partnership allows Goochland County Public Schools to meet the new requirements of the Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) more stringent teacher and principal evaluation model through Standard for Success’ online portal accessible via a tablet or laptop and which is completely mobile.

In anticipation of the new requirements that went into effect in July, 2012, Goochland partnered with Standard for Success to create a customized, online platform that eliminates the reliance on paperwork and offers a comprehensive tool to conduct evaluations of its 225 teachers and eight administrators.

“This version of the product was built by Virginia educators with Virginia educators in mind,” said James Lane, superintendent of Goochland County Public Schools. “We piloted the software in one school this year and plan to use it in all schools next year.”

Standard for Success’ program allows for real-time evaluation of teachers while offering diverse management features and archives. Teachers can chart professional development goals and division leadership can view school and division-wide summaries and drill down for specifics on particular groups – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“You can see average ratings across divisions, which can inform the type of professional development that we’re going to do and is something I haven’t seen in any other product,” Lane said. “In this day and age, I don’t know how you can continue to manage this process with paper, with the increased requirements of the new teacher evaluations. Standard for Success will make this a lot easier.”
