America Responds: Emergency Preparedness

3/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
After these past few months of natural disasters such as the fires in Colorado last summer, the destruction from Hurricane Sandy, and the recent record-breaking snow storms, using this lesson plan from PBS that introduces students to the various response mechanisms for natural and man-made disasters is a worthwhile exercise.  Students learn how the federal and state governments help with disaster relief, and they find out about the many services of organizations like the Red Cross and Doctors without Borders.
