Building a Water Clock

This lesson from Science NetLinks
, sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, provides a plan to build a water clock. Students first learn what a water clock can do and not do, then build their own simple water clock—and then build a better one. Questions are posed so that students can show their grasp of the workings of this mechanism. One of the assessment suggestions triggers the competitive spirit in students and opens up the testing of the water clocks to review by the whole school.
