CYBERBULLYING ON THE RISE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

More than 25 percent of public middle and high schools deal with cyberbullying events at least once a week.

This rate of frequency appears related to school enrollment, as weekly events are reported in:

27% of schools with 1,000+ students
● 13% of schools with enrollment between 500 and 1,000 students
● 8% of schools with fewer than 300 students.

The location of the school (urban, suburban, rural) did not have a significant impact on cyberbullying incidents, but schools with higher populations of white students tended to experience more cases of cyberbullying.
