Lascaux: A Visit to the Cave

4/23/2013 7:00:00 PM
Take a virtual tour of the Lascaux Caves in France without causing any environmental damage to the famous, delicate Paleolithic cave paintings. As you descend into the main cave, you pass underneath paintings on the cave ceiling. Roll your mouse along the walls and zero in on the highlights of the figures. You’ll be able to keep track of where you are in the cave system on the cave outline. The paintings are breathtaking in all of the seven rooms and each room has several paintings to examine in great detail. After your tour, be sure to click on the site map so you can find out extensive information about the geological setting, the history of discovering the caves, and the kinds of materials used to make the paintings.
