Making the Modern World: Bridges

9/16/2013 6:00:00 PM
This interesting module from The Science Museum in London has some discussion about why bridges have been built over the years, but the primary focus is on how they have been built. Find out about the engineering behind beam bridges, suspension bridges, and arch bridges. Included are photographs of examples of each kind of bridge, as well as diagrams of how the bridges work in terms of physics. You’ll also find an extensive glossary of bridge terms. Do you know what a voussoir is?
