PBS Learning Media: Basketball Physics

12/16/2013 8:00:00 AM
By combining a background essay and discussion questions with a video from Dragonfly, this PBS science resource investigates the physics of basketball. Experiment with the ball and hand position when you begin a shot to see how it affects the shot. Does your position on the court help you make a more accurate shot? Keep track of your shooting percentage to find your “sweet spot.” How does backspin work in making an accurate shot? Use science to find the difference between a “soft” shot and a “brick.”
