Science Buddies: Weathering the Wind Chill

11/30/2012 12:00:00 AM
The Science Buddies site offers hundreds of ideas for science projects. This one is an experiment evaluating whether wind speed affects how quickly an object cools. The procedure explains how to set up the test area, how to graph wind speed, and how to measure the effect of wind on how fast a cup of coffee will cool. There is a good explanation of what windchill factor means, especially in terms of how it affects your body and how fast frostbite can set in.
